‘Initiative for Enhancing Quality Education of Girl Children Studying in Municipal Corporation Primary Schools of Delhi’

With the support of Tech Mahindra Foundation, DISHA is teaching 1498 girl children studying in class I-V in collaboration with the education department of North Delhi Municipal Corporation from April 2013 for one year. Majority of these girl children live in low income settlements and slum clusters of Naraina, Inderpuri and Shadipur area.
community participation and capacity building of teachers through school curriculum interventions in four MCD primary schools. This has lead to improved teacher’s performance; curriculum related material development for activity based learning and has brought about significant improvement in learning in students.

Long term project goal of the project:
   
To engage with government schools to complement SSA program for quality education, retention and completion of primary schooling of disadvantaged children.
 
Short term project goal of the project:
  Create an enabling, supporting and stimulating environment in formal schools to address the problem of low-learning, high absenteeism and school drop-outs
  Provide support to school teachers for addressing the needs of quality primary education of disadvantaged girl children
  Take up advocacy with community, educational department and other stakeholders involved in education to bring about school based reforms.
